Sitting here reflecting on life I realise I have all I ever wanted... except maybe a kitten... but that's just not practical right now!

I wanted a husband, someone to travel the world with -- tick.
I wanted a camera -- tick.
I wanted to be happy -- tick.
I wanted to travel -- tick.
I wanted to be in love and be loved -- tick.
I wanted to be a success -- tick. Success is different things for different people - for me it's having a good job and just being a decent, contributing member of society.

Things aren't all perfect, I've certainly had my ups and downs over the last six months... but I can't really complain.

... except I don't have a kitten... and some chickens... and we don't own a house yet - but they are things to look forward to, eh?

On 6 July 2009 we flew off on our eight week fun filled European adventure. We’d saved for two years and spent a lot of time planning and preparing for the trip of a lifetime. Mike and I enjoyed it immensely. Salt

Where would we be without salt? "Edible salt is a mineral, one of the few rocks humans eat. Salt is necessary for the survival of all living creatures, including humans. Salt is involved in regulating the water content (fluid balance) of the body. Salt is required for life.." A simple rock - it just happens to be a tasty rock. Notes from Europe, August 2012

In August 2012 Mike and I once again travelled half way around the world to spend four weeks in Europe.  Before we left we planned out the cities we were to visit: Tokyo, Dresden, Vienna, Budapest, Salzburg, Venice, Florence and Rome. These notes are mostly about food, but I do also include other anecdotes and random things I remembered.   Some of it was written during the trip but much added at later stages. Saturday 4th Wellington to Auckland Flights to Tokyo always leave early in the morning so we had to fly to Auckland and stay the night there.  We stayed at the hotel across the road from the international terminal.  From memory it was $168 for the night, but worth it for a comfy bed and no hassle about getting to the airport in the morning. Sunday 5th Auckland to Tokyo This was an Air New Zealand flight.  It was an old plane and our seats were on an exit aisle, which has its upsides and downsides.  It means there was no one in front of us
